Just one more week (or six days to be more exact) and the new Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom, which will likely hit the market under the name Galaxy K, will be officially introduced. On April 29th in Singapore all the juicy details of the new camera-heavy phone will be revealed by Samsung itself. Or we should rather say “confirmed”, since numerous leaks have already given us a pretty good idea of what to expect. For now, however, let’s enjoy some new pictures which have appeared online recently.
Galaxy S5 Zoom aka Galaxy K Camera Phone
It’s not the first time that the Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom aka Galaxy K has leaked in photos. The last batch, however, is far more clear and shows the phone’s massive camera in all its glory. At first glance, the Galaxy K looks like a small digital camera with a 10x optical zoom and a Xenon flash. If you can ignore for a moment all these impressive camera features sitting on the back, the Galaxy K becomes a regular smartphone.
The same can’t be said about the Galaxy S4 Zoom from 2013, which has a huge bump on the back making it look more like a camera than a phone. The leaked photos show the phone encased in some sort of protective case, though we are not sure whether it will be bundled with the handset at launch. More likely it will be sold separately as an optional accessory.
Compared to last year’s model, the camera-centric member of the Galaxy S5 family is slimmer yet is expected to come with a larger 20-megapixel main sensor accompanied by a Xenon flash. The front-facing camera is said to be a 2-megapixel unit.
In addition to the cameras, rumored features of the Galaxy K include 4.8-inch Super AMOLED 720p display, a hexa-core Samsung Exynos 5 5260 processor, 2 GB of RAM and Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Camera aside, the phone certainly won’t bring you to your knees with its hardware but that was never the point. The device is aimed at users who look for extraordinary camera experience and in this respect the Samsung Galaxy K should not disappoint.
