As promised, Cricket today added the Samsung Galaxy S III to its roster of Android devices at price $549.99 for 16GB version without contract. According to the release note, the phone should be available online, in carrier’s local stores and third party dealers. However, the phone must be in stock at select areas for now. We just tried to purchase the smartphone in New York thru Cricket’s online store and we came across the message “Sorry, this phone is not available in your market”.

Cricket did not disclose when the phone will be available in all areas but it may take some time and we recommend to be patient. For instance, the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 which landed on Cricket network quite time ago, it is still unavailable in our area. We are crossing fingers that the Galaxy S III will be available for all Cricket subscribers any time soon.
As a quick reminder, the Samsung Galaxy S III is powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and dual-core 1.5GHz processor Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal memory, which overall makes the device the most powerful smartphone to date at Cricket’s offer. The device has a huge 4.8-inch Super AMOLED 720p display, 1.9MP front camera and 8MP rear camera on the back that’s capable of recording 720p HD video. It also offers Wi-Fi, mobile hotspot, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and strong 2100 mAh battery.
