Learn more about the Galaxy Note 10.1
The Galaxy Note 10.1 features a 10.1-inch display with a 1,280 x 800 pixel resolution, so it has the screen real estate for scrawling notes, entertaining kids, and creating some real pieces of art if you wish. You can do so either using your fingertips or the S-Pen stylus, which is still not very common for tablets. The stylus can be used to write, draw or navigate, though using it may require some getting used to. It is an elegant and easy-to-grip pen but the inclusion of a function button close to the tip can prove to be somewhat irksome. For some users it may not be easy to find the best way to hold the S-Pen without triggering the screenshot function which is assigned to the button. The bottom end of the pen functions as an eraser – all you have to do is flip the pen.
Under the hood, there is a Quad Core Exynos 4412 processor running at 1.4GHz, and 2GB of RAM with 16GB or 32GB of flash storage. The microSD card slot is compatible with cards up to 64 GB so you don’t have to worry about running out of space for your documents, photos, games or apps. The table sports Bluetooth 4.0, GPS navigation, an accelerometer, a digital compass and a gyroscope, and you connect to the Web via WiFi (802.11b/g/n), Wi-Fi Direct, dual-band, or create a Wi-Fi hotspot. All this makes the device efficient and fast. Websites (even graphics-heavy ones) and apps load quickly and without a problem, and games and movies run smoothly. The impressive 7000 mAh battery provides you with up to 21 hours of play time without the need to recharge the battery.
To add even more fun, the table has two cameras. 1.9 megapixel front-facing camera serves for video chatting and 5 megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and geo-tagging allows you to take pictures and edit them using one of the few apps as well as record 1080p at 30 fps videos. The Galaxy Note 10.1 also provides access to Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, and is integrated with Picasa, so you can create and edit photo albums and share them with your friends and family. The tablet supports P4/DivX/Xvid/FLV/MKV/H.264/H.263 video and MP3/WAV/eAAC+/Flac audio files.
Samsung’s store offers a number of S-Pen compatible apps: S Memo, S Note, Adobe Ideas, PS Touch. While some of them are designed simply to have fun, others may prove really useful. The tablet runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. All things considered, it definitely is worth checking out.
