Announced in April, both the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3 were expected to be released in Europe in May. Meanwhile May passed already and the Mega 5.8 as well as its bigger brother cannot be found anywhere in European market. Hopefully, it will change soon. Nevertheless, both models were officially unveiled in India, together with their pricing details.
Samsung Galaxy Mega Pricing Details
The Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 Duos will cost 25,000 INR, which is around $447, and the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 will set you back 31,490 INR, which is an equivalent of $565. The Galaxy Mega 5.8 Duos should go on sale in India on June 3. We will have to wait a bit more for information about availability of the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and standard single SIM Galaxy Mega 5.8.
The Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 sports a 5.8-inch screen with qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front facing camera and a 2,600 mAh battery. The phone is powered by a 1.4 GHz dual-core processor and offers 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory expandable via microSD card.
The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 packs a 6.3-inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 and the same cameras the Mega 5.8. Under the hood the handset has a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor paired with 1.5 GB RAM. In addition to 16 GB of built-in memory, the phone houses a microSD slot compatible with up to 64 GB cards. Power is delivered by a massive 3,200 mAh battery.
Both devices run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and come with split screen capability for a variety of applications including email, messages, “MyFiles”, “S Memo”, “S Planner”, as well as “Air View”. Other features include 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v 4.0, and GPS navigation.
