Samsung Galaxy series is arguably the most diverse lineup of smartphones with devices ranging from entry-level to the most premium offerings. The family will soon have another member called Galaxy J5 which appears to fit right in the mid tier. The handset paid a visit to TENAA about a couple of weeks ago and has leaked again, this time revealing live photos and specifications.
Samsung Galaxy J5 will be bigger and better equipped mid-ranger
The Galaxy J5 resembles the Galaxy J1 which was released last year, but is bigger and better equipped. The phone has a 5-inch TFT LCD display with HD resolution and is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz. 1.5GB of RAM will be responsible for multitasking and users will get 8GB of internal memory with microSD slot to add even more if needed.
Other key features include a 13-megapixel main camera, a generous 5-megapixel selfie shooter and a 2600mAh battery. The device will ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop with the latest version of TouchWiz on top which we first saw on the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
You won’t be able to mistake the Galaxy J5 for any other device as it follows Samsung’s traditional design language including rounded corners which make sliding the phone in and out of the pocket easy. Unlike many smartphones, the Galaxy J5 has a removable back panel which will allow users swap the battery when necessary. The phone that leaked out clad in white, though most likely it will be available in other color options as well when it goes on sale.
Speaking of going on sale, at the moment we don’t know when that might happen. However, since the leak includes the whole package, that is the list of key specs together with live photos, it probably won’t be long until we see the phone go official. For now pricing remains a secret either, but don’t worry – it’s unlikely that you will spend a fortune on the Galaxy J5. The phone is clearly a mid-ranger, and a pretty modest one at that, so it should be rather affordable. As soon as we know more about the device, we will let you know, so check back with us often.
