Samsung’s newest smartphone is doing its round before the official launch. This time Samsung is about to introduce the Galaxy A family. Among the first devices is the Samsung SM-A500, also known as Galaxy A5, which should get soon an announcement, but just like other devices, the photographs has been leaked out before the official release. Thanks to the leak we have a chance to take a look at how the handset will look like.
Samsung Galaxy A5 SM-A500
The Samsung SM-A500 or the A5000, we are not sure yet what the device will be called, will most probably be unveiled as the Galaxy A5. The live photos of the Samsung Galaxy A5 leaked out on Friday, just in time of the iPhone 6 launch. The pictures presents a handset that boasts a 5-inch screen and unfortunately a fake metal design. The phone is expected to be released in white and black color options and perhaps, like Galaxy S5, others hues too. In the photographs the design seems quite unassuming and it looks impressively thin and light as the recent announced Galaxy Alpha.
If you expect for a full metal-made Galaxy A5 you will be disappointed. According to rumors the Galaxy A5 will not have metal in its design, you may count only on a metal frame (we are crossing our fingers). Instead of metal, in order to lower the cost of the production, Samsung used some mysterious non-plastic material that “feels cold” to the touch. Thanks to that we can expect that the price for the device won’t be top end. However, despite of using not so standard material the company still managed to a somewhat premium feel.
According to the specifications listed on Tenaa, the handset is as thin as 139.3×67.7×6.7 mm and weighs 126 grams. The phone will belong to mid-range device featuring a 5-inch Super AMOLED screen of 720p resolution, a Snapdragon 400 chipset, a 2,330 mAh battery to keep it running. The phone will arrive equipped with 13MP camera with 1080p video capture, for high quality pictures instead of an 8MP camera as reported earlier and a whooping 5MP front-facing shooter for those who love taking selfies.
The smartphone will run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat with the newest version of TouchWiz UX from the Galaxy Note 4. Built-in storage is set at 16GB and the phone will feature a hybrid card slot, which will accommodate both a microSD card and a nano-SIM card slot. As for the connectivity side there’s quad-band 2G, then 3G (international and Chinese) and LTE (the Chinese flavor).
At this point, all the details have not been confirmed by Samsung yet, so take the report with a pinch of salt. An official announcement should happen sometime this month. Along with the SM-A500 will be launching two more models as a part of the Galaxy A family. The two other phones come with model numbers SM-A300 and SM-A700.
