Today at a special press conference in Russia Samsung announced two more devices joining the Galaxy Tab family, the Galaxy Tab A and Tab A Plus. Carrying an 8-inch or 9.7- inch screen respectively, both devices are introduced as mid-range offerings featuring the iPad-like 4:3 aspect ratio. According to the recent leaks the Galaxy Tab A series will hit the market priced at something around $320 dressed in blue, grey and white color options. The Galaxy Tab A Plus will be priced approximately $370.

Starting from the screen parameters, the new Samsung Galaxy Tab A will come with 8-inch display offering 1024 x 768p of resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio which will allegedly provide a better viewing and reading experience. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A Plus comes equipped with 9.7-inch screen.
Both devices, regardless of the size factor are pretty slim with their profiles measuring only 7.5mm thick. Still, these slim bodies somehow managed to pack a really powerful 4,200 mAh battery that in the case of the 8-inch variant is reported to deliver up to 10 hours of use.
Moving on to the processing unit, the Galaxy Tab A and Tab A Plus will feature a quad-cote processor clocked at 1.2GHz. So far Samsung keeps mum regarding processor’s brand name. Though there’s a rumor on the street suggesting the Snapdragon 410 will be running the show.
When it comes to memory, both slates will offer its future users 2GB RAM and 16GB of built-in expandable up to 128GB via microSD cards storage. The Galaxy Tab A Plus will additionally house two speakers at the bottom, whereas the 8-inch model will debut with a single speaker on the board. However, none of the discussed variants will sadly deliver stereo sound.
On the optics side, the device’s user will be offered with a less than decent 5-megapixel main camera accompanied by a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. The slate is also reported to support Wi-Fi, optional 4G LTE connectivity and run more optimized, in comparison to its previous editions, TouchWiz UI based on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Scheduled to debut on the Russian market next month, the Galaxy Tab A will be sold for something round 18,990 rubles for Wi-Fi model and 22,990 rubles for LTE variant, which translates to something round $304 and $368, respectively. In case, you want to get yourself the bigger sibling, the Galaxy Tab A Plus you will have to prepare to pay about 22,990 rubles for Wi-Fi version or 26,990 rubles for the LTE one, which is something round $368 and $432, respectively.
