Porsche Design BlackBerry P9983The vast majority of smartphones in the market are launched with no particular target group in mind – they are meant to appeal to a rather wide audience. Some devices, however, are aimed at a very specific group of users, for example those who have very refined taste and can’t be satisfied by a run-of-the-mill appearance. One of the such phones is the Porsche Design Blackberry P9983 Graphite smartphone which went official earlier today.

Porsche Design BlackBerry P9983 Graphite

BlackBerry P9983 GraphiteThe new BlackBerry P9983 belongs to the premium Porsche Design smartphones lineup and like other members of the series, screams luxury from the very first second you look at it. The best word to describe the design would be austere with no unnecessary ornaments to distract the eyes. With sharp corners, the phone looks like it has been chiseled from a slab of metal. It has new graphite metallic color elements and the back panel was hand wrapped with leather.

According to Roland Heiler, Chief Design Officer of the Porsche Design Group, the newest Porsche Design Blackberry P9983 Graphite is dedicated for those who want to be “one step ahead.” We assume that he was referring to the exceptional design and not hardware, since as far as specs are concerned, the handset is actually way behind high-end phones we got opportunity see at CES and MWC.

The Blackberry P9983 Graphite features a 3.1-inch display with a pretty modest 720p resolution and is powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor which is no longer the object of desire in a smartphone. Heiler praises the Blackberry P9983 Graphite for “impressive battery” which will “delivery exceptional performance.” Given the phone’s specs this may be actually true; however, compared to over 3,000 mAh units of some devices, the 2,100 mAh battery is in fact of an average capacity. The handset comes with plenty of memory, though, 64GB to be more exact, and microSD slot to add even more as well as an 8-megapixel rear camera.

The Porsche Design Blackberry P9983 Graphite is not for everyone, there’s no doubt about that, simply because not everyone’s budget will be able to handle the phone’s hefty price. It will retail for a whopping $1,950 when it goes on sale some time within the next few weeks.
