Recently we have seen a sudden increase in number of rumors concerning the upcoming Samsung flagship phone, the Galaxy S5. It may be another proof of our suspicions that the Korean company is planning to unveil the next-generation Galaxy S phone later this month at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona. Of course, the news are far from being official, but lately we have been getting some subtle hints from different sources that the Galaxy S5 could be announced in just a couple of weeks. Lets take for example the pictured Galaxy 5 box and Samsung teaser of upcoming new TouchWiz UI.
Samsung Galaxy S5 – More hints what to expect
Earlier today Samsung published a second teaser for its MWC event. This time, in addition to the title of the event – Unpacked 5, and the date and time – February 24th, 2014, we also can notice nine round icons labeled as Speed, Outdoor, Curiosity, Fun, Social, Style, Privacy, Fitness, and Life.
These icons may have no significance whatsoever and may simply be Samsung’s way of playing with us, or they may be another tip suggesting that big changes in the UI are on the way. If this is the case, the icons could be a representation of a new version of TouchWiz UI with circular icons that may be found in the Galaxy S5.
Another tip is a photo allegedly showing the bottom side on a retail Samsung Galaxy S5 box which reveals key specs of the phone. It looks like the phone may pack a 5.25-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) Super AMOLED display, a 2.5 GHz quad-core processor and 3 GB of RAM, which is exactly what was rumored earlier.
Other details, however, don’t add up. For example, the Galaxy S5 was expected to come with a 16-megapixel camera and 3,200 mAh battery, but what we can see from the pic, there is 3,000 mAh unit and 20-megapixel camera. Not that we would complain, especially about the camera, but this details adds a generous pinch of salt to the news. It seems that the only way to find out the truth is to wait for official announcement.
