There may be many more prominent players than Pantech on the market, but this small South Korean smartphone maker that is preparing to launch a device with fairly innovative solutions. The Pantech Vega LTE-A, as this is the phone in question, is scheduled for release in mid-August and will be available through Korean carrier SK Telecom. The handset will treat us to a feature that neither of the big manufacturers have managed to implement in their phones so far, namely a fingerprint scanner.
5.6-inch Pantech Vega with super-fast LTE-Advanced and Snapdragon 800 processor
The fingerprint scanner aside, the Pantech Vega LTE-A offers more specs worth commenting on. As the name suggests, the phone supports the super-fast LTE-Advanced connectivity, which can reach the speed of up to 150 Mbps.
The smartphone features a 5.6-inch Natural IPS Pro Full HD display and is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 for graphics. Add 2 GB of RAM and you get a powerful combination capable of handling even the most complex tasks. The device will be available with either 16 GB or 32 GB of internal memory.
The Vega LTE-A is equipped with a 13-megapixel main camera with LED flash and a 2.1-megapixel user-facing sensor. Apart from the camera, there is a trackpad on the back panel, allowing users to operate the phone one-handedly.
The device offers a 3,100 mAh battery with Fast Charge Technology, which according to the manufacturer, requires just 94 minutes to fully charge the phone. The Pantech Vega LTE-A runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, which is the latest version of the OS currently available.
