The phone is scheduled for launch later this month for South Korean market.

Pantech Vega Iron 2 with metal body and faux leather in the back…

Vega Iron 2 Leather BackAs of the look, The Pantech Vega Iron 2 has a clean yet classy design with no unnecessary ornament to spoil the line. It has a metal body with faux leather back panel and will be available in six color options including white champagne gold, white rose pink, white shiny silver, black gold cut, black red cut and black silver cut.  The smartphone measures 5.68 x 2.89 x 0.31 inch (144.2 x 73.5 x 7.9 mm), and weighs 5.36 ounces (152 grams).

The front of the handset is graced by a 5.3-inch AMOLED display with Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution above which sits a 2-megapixel full HD user-facing camera. On the back resides a 13-megapixel camera with Wide Optical Image Stabilization and auto focus.

Earlier rumors suggested that the Pantech Vega Iron 2 would come with a Snapdragon 805 processor, however, this is not the case. Instead the phone is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 801 chip which matches perfectly the specification of top phones currently available on the market. The Vega Iron 2 packs 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory, and a massive 3,220 mAh battery.

The phone comes with LTE-A and the usual connectivity setup including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS navigation. The Vega Iron 2 also boasts an interesting feature called Live Up which detects motion and prompts the phone to display time, texts and missed calls when taken out of a pocket. The device will ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat on board with a custom UI from Pantech.

The Pantech Vega Iron 2 is a successor of last year’s Vega Iron and will go on sale later this month, for now only in South Korea. We are still waiting on details regarding pricing and international availability. With its stylish design and top-shelf specs, the Vega Iron 2 is not a phone you can just ignore. We keep our fingers crossed for US availability.
