At the end of July we reported about Pantech working on a new phablet which is supposed to compete with the Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4. And just right now, thanks to the hand-on video that has surfaced today, we know some more details on the handset, including its name and specs. The Pantech Pop Up Note we see on the video, though really classy in terms of look, has nothing more but decent parameters.
Pantech Pop Up Note with Touchless Navigation
All those familiar with the mobile industry know that Pantech is a Korean mobile manufacturer known of high-quality design of their devices. It was the first manufacturer to introduce gesture-based touchless navigation and glass ceramic chassis to their products. Now the company have ambitious plan to challenge the fervently-awaited Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Will they have any chances to win, or at least to go head to head? Let’s check it, taking a close-up at the leaks.
Starting from the specs, Pantech will definitely not surprise us with nothing revolutionary in terms of tech parameters. The new Pop Up Note appears to be a mid-range device with its 5.5-inch full HD display and the Qualcomm 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor combined with 2GB RAM. Going further, the phablet is said to house a decent 13-megapixel rear shooter with additional acceptable 2.1-megapixel front-facing one. The phablet will reportedly sport 16GB of built-in storage that can be expanded up to only 34GB. Summing up, on the basis of leaked information, the Pantech Pop Up Note isn’t a strong rival for the Galaxy Note 4 when it comes to the hardware.
But although the hardware parameters aren’t the strongest point of the rumored device, the Pop Up Note may appear to be a serious competitor in terms of design. The handset looks and surely feels expensive and classy due to it’s premium body with a stylus for better measurement. The mentioned stylus is placed on the one side of the device, and can be easily moved out by click on a button, which is not only stylish but also very convenient. What’s more the Pantech Pop Up Note is equipped with a fancy fingertips sensor that enables identification of the user.
Pantech seems to be in a huge economic trouble these days, since recently the manufacturer asked three most powerful South Korean carriers to support their by purchasing their devices on large-scale. It looks as if the company believe that the new premium look phablet will help them solve all their problems. If their hopes turn out to be vain, Pantech will have only one course of action which is to declare bankruptcy. Time will verify whether the device will be a recipe for all the company’s problems or just a swan song? Is it possible that the high craftsman quality body design will balance the low performance hardware?
We don’t nothing more about the device. It’s date of premiere and further details are still unknown. But, be certain that we will keep your posted about all new information concerning the phablet. Meanwhile, when waiting for more Pantech Pop Up Note leaks, feast your eyes watching the promotional hand-on video.
