Pantech Discover Android smartphone with DriveMode coming to AT&T on January 11

Pantech Discover Android SmartphoneAT&T today announced at CES that the Pantech Discover that will be available online and in stores beginning January 11. The new Android smartphone will come equipped with large 4.8-inch 720p HD screen, 1.5GHz dual-core processor and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Discover will be the first AT&T device pre-loaded with the AT&T DriveMode application to help discourage drivers from texting while driving. The Pantech Discover will be sold for only $49.99 with a two-year contract. Based on the price tag and specs, it seems that purchasing Pantech Discover will bring you a great value for the dollar you spend.

Pantech Discover for AT&T

The Pantech Discover for AT&T sports a trendy curvy shape, weights only 4.76 ounces and offer users a 4.8-inch TFT display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. The handset is powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro and is supported by a 2,100 mAh battery. The Discover includes a 12.6 megapixel camera that captures 1080p HD video, 2 megapixel front-camera, 4G LTE, NFC dual speakers, and a microSD slot for storage expansion in addition to the 16 GB of internal memory.

The smartphone runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and is pre-loaded with AT&T DriveMode, an app that helps curb texting and driving. The app can be set-up to automatically send a customizable reply to incoming messages once a vehicle starts moving 25 mph. The auto-reply message is similar to an “out-of-office alert” and can reply to texts, emails and callers letting know that user is driving and unable to respond. Users has the option to create an “allow list” or it can also be turned off manually at any time if the user needs to make a call immediately.
