Oppo may not be of world renown just yet, but the company sure has a way of attracting customers. For example, the recently announced Oppo R819 comes with a unique feature that would be welcome in other phones as well in the near future. What is that? – you may ask. The Chinese manufacturer will offer users a choice between different versions of ROM. If you prefer something different than the company’s default ROM, you will be able to use a new ‘Color’ ROM. You can also install stock Android 4.2.1 and get “official Android experience the way Google originally intended it”.
Oppo R819 Android Phone with custom ROM
Hardware-wise, the Oppo 819 is a mid-range device. The handset is handsome and neat with its 0.29 inches (7.3 mm) of thickness and 3.9 ounces (110 g) of weight. The phone packs a sharp 4.7-inch 720p IPS LCD display made with JDI technology, and is powered by a Mediatek MT6589 with a quad-core Cortex-A7 ticking at 1.5 GHz. The chip is paired with 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory.
The Oppo 819 sports a Sony Exmor-equipped 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, as well as a 2-megapixel user-facing camera for video chatting. In addition, the phone features a dedicated Image Signal Processor, which will the color of all of your pictures. Other features include dual-SIM support, FM radio, DLNA, and a 2000 mAh battery.
The Oppo 819 is available for pre-order on both sides of the pond and costs $349 in the US and €269 in Europe. The phone will hit the stores in September.
