Smartphone makers like to surprise their customers and rarely reveal details regarding their new devices before their official announcement. However, it almost never happens that a phone is kept a secret until the day it’s unveiled. Very often we know all the juicy details long before the big day and we usually learn them from leaks and rumors. This time, though, it’s the manufacturer itself who spilled the beans and, what’s interesting, didn’t do so by accident but intentionally. As a result, we now know that the Oppo R7 will debut together with a phablet called Oppo R7 Plus.
Oppo R7 and Oppo R7 Plus – What to expect
Both devices popped up in a few ads that are already airing in China and we have to admit that they seem like pretty decent offerings. To start off, both phones appear to have metallic unibody constructions with 2.5D glass on the front, but here’s where the similarities end. The Oppo R7 keeps capacitive keys, while the larger R7 Plus comes with on-screen navigation.
You will find even more differences on the back panel, for example the rear camera is centered on the R7 Plus and it’s located in the left upper corner on the R7. Moreover, the phablet is equipped with a fingerprint sensor which most likely serves to unlock the device.
As far as hardware is concerned, details are not official but rumor has it that the Oppo R7 sports a 5.2-inch 1080p display and a 20.7-megapixel rear camera and is powered by an octa-core MediaTek processor.
The Oppo R7 Plus, on the other hand, is expected to boast a massive 5.9-inch 1080p screen, a 1.9GHz MediaTek MT6795M chipset with eight cores, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. In addition, both devices will come with VOOC fast charging technology which allegedly is capable of charging the battery from 0% to 75% in just half an hour.
Of course, a couple of press shots are not the same as official announcement. What we do know at the moment is how the phones will look like, but specs are still supposed to be unknown to the public. The secret will be revealed soon, though, as both the Oppo R7 and R7 Plus are expected to be presented to the world next week, May 20th.
