You might have heard that Oppo was about to announce a new phone called Oppo Neo. If so, we have an update for you that the phone is here. Well, not “here” as in the US, but nonetheless it is official. Just a day after teasing the Oppo Neo on Twitter, the Indonesian branch of the Chinese phone maker unveiled the device. For this moment, the phone will be available only in Indonesia for a price of IDR 2,599,000 which is an equivalent of $215.
4.5-inch Oppo Neo Android Smartphone
The Oppo Neo main selling point is going to be extra responsive IPS LCD display which is sensitive enough to let you use it while wearing gloves. Besides the Glove Mode, however, the screen leaves a lot to be desired. The resolution is just 854 x 480 pixels, which given display’s size of 4.5 inches, works out to a pixel density of 217 ppi.
The screen fits in a 5.2 x 2.59 x 0.36 inches (132 x 65.8 x 9.2 mm) body and the whole device tips the scales at 4.59 ounces (130 g).
If you can get past the rather resolution, the rest of the specs are pretty decent for this price range. The Oppo Neo is equipped with a 5-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, a 1,900 mAh removable battery and a dual-core 1.3 GHz processor. Other details about the chip are unknown at this point including internal memory and RAM.
The Oppo Neo runs ColorOS which is based on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The platform offers some cool features such as Quick Reach. The phone will be available in single SIM version and with dual-SIM support.
