To walk through whatever store with electronics is all it takes to notice that the market is now full of decent quality products sold at low prices. However, apparently we haven’t reached the limit of cheap yet and NuFront it there to prove it. The Chinese chipset maker has collaborated with some Chinese retailers and has come up with a tablet powered by NuFront’s TL7689 chipset which is priced at just $54.
NuFront Android 3G HSPA+ Cheap Tablet
For such a low price you obviously can’t expect a powerhouse, but users who are looking for a cheap slate for some entertainment on the go, won’t have too many reasons to complain. The NuFront tablet has a 7-inch wide screen with 1024×600 resolution and is powered by NuFront’s own TL7689 chipset. The CPU has four cores clocked at 1.2GHz and graphics is handled by Mali-400PM2 GPU. It comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable memory storage for storing one’s favorite pictures, videos, music, apps etc.
The device runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, has a 1,800 mAh battery, a 2-megapixel rear camera with a VGA front-facing camera for the selfie enthusiasts. The NuFront- based tablets offer 3G connectivity, of HSPA+ kind to be more exact. NuFront’s chipset has a lot of potential and next year the company is planning to release a 4G-enabled 28nm octa-core processor.
The price is so low that you could have never imagined it was possible to get a fully functioning tablet for so little money. Just a few years ago a 7-inch Android tablet with WiFi-only connectivity was priced at $399; now you can get one for just $54 (CNY 330). What a huge difference! And if you are willing to pay $20 more (CNY 460), you can get the “fancy” version which provides you with slightly improved specs, that is a 2,800 mAh battery and a better screen, whatever it means.
Unfortunately, we don’t have good news for those of you who would love to get your hands on such affordable tablet. The device is currently available only in China and chances that it will make it to other markets are close to non-existent.
