At least two new Lumia phones are currently in the making – the Nokia Moneypenny also known as the Lumia 630 and the Nokia Martini which will arrive in the stores as the Lumia 930. Today we heard about a third device for now known as the Nokia Monarch. The news comes from a tweet by @evleaks and gives no other details beside the fact that the phone will be headed to T-Mobile. The Monarch is wrapped in a veil of mystery but the word on the street is that it may be T-Mobile’s version of the upcoming Nokia Lumia 930.
Nokia Monarch to be T-Mobile Lumia 930
The assumption is probably based on the phone’s codename. Monarch indeed does sound high-end and goes pretty well with Martini. The Lumia 930 is believed to be an international version of the Lumia Icon which is so far offered exclusively by Verizon Wireless. It’s not improbable that the phone will be offered by a number of carriers, including T-Mobile. It’s also possible that the Magenta network will want to have its own version of the Lumia Icon and that could be the Monarch.
At this point, it’s nothing more than pure speculation. The Nokia Monarch may well turn out to be the Lumia 630 or an entirely different device. In a few days everything should become clear. On April 2nd Microsoft will hold its BUILD conference where Windows Phone 8.1 update will be announced. It is widely rumored that Nokia will take the stage too and introduce its upcoming phones. The rumors gain credibility with the fact that Nokia has been promoting the event with hash tag #moreLumia . Either way, the Nokia Monarch as well as the Lumia 630 and 930 should arrive with Windows Phone 8.1 on board.
