It’s a bird… It’s a plane… It’s Superman, Nokia Superman, also known as Lumia 730, and it’s coming our way. Ok, let’s be more precise. What’s coming is not the actual device itself, although it could be happening very soon, but lots of rumors and leaks regarding the phone’s specification have been popping up recently. A couple of days ago the handset leaked out again revealing live images along with lots of technical details and confirming what we have heard about it before.
Nokia Lumia 730 ‘Superman’ – What we know.
Here’s what we know. Based on the specs that leaked, the Nokia Lumia 730 will be a decidedly mid-range phone, though offering at least one feature a high-end device wouldn’t be ashamed of. The handset is expected to pack a 4.7-inch screen; however, resolution seems to be somewhat of a mystery. Some sources claim the display will come with 854 x 480 pixels, while others say it will be of HD (720 x 1280) variety. Obviously, we would prefer the latter, unfortunately it’s not up to us.
Powering the Lumia 730 will be a quad-core processor of unknown type. Most likely it will be a Snapdragon 400 clocked at either 1.6 or 1.7 GHz, as a Snapdragon 800 chip would probably raise the cost too much. Other features of the phone allegedly include 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal memory, microSD slot compatible with up to 128 GB cards, dual-SIM capability, rear camera with a rather unusual resolution of 6.1 megapixels and an impressive 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The device will be available in at least two color options – green and orange and will be released with a new version of Windows Phone 8.1 called Debian Red.
The leaks seem legit enough, but as always in such cases we advise you to take the news with a pinch of salt and keep an open mind for possible changes. We are not sure when the Lumia 730 might be announced but something tells us it could be soon, probably this fall. Based on the previous reports we believe that the phone might arrive at Verizon and AT&T as early as this month. We will see about that, but the sole fact that the leaks keep coming at increasing rate seems to confirm imminent release.
