Sprint has just announced that Nokia Lumia 635 Windows Phone will be soon joining its list of offerings. The Microsoft phone will be available to both, Sprint and its prepaid service providers, Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile, with the last two starting to sell the phone next week on December 23. As for the post-paid Sprint customers, they will be able to put their hands on the handset on January 16th.
Nokia Lumia 635 is the first Windows Phone 8.1 handset sold by Sprint, Boost and Virgin Mobile.
All these means that Microsoft managed to achieve a great success having all four biggest US carrier’s selling its Lumia smartphones. In fact, the Nokia Lumia 635 is the first Windows Phone 8.1 handset sold by Sprint, simultaneously being the first Lumia-branded phone landing on the carrier’s prepaid offer. This shows how fast the Windows mobile brand is spreading around, rapidly gaining on popularity.
All the carrier’s pre-paid customers will get the chance to buy the Nokia Lumia 635 earlier than Sprint’s contract customers. The phone will be available online at Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile starting on December 23rd. Boost will be offering it in the cyan color scheme, while at Virgin you can get the white version.
Both pre-paid brands will sell the phone labeled with the price tag of $99.99 (the price doesn’t include taxes). So, this is definitely a great news for all those who don’t want or can’t sign a long term service agreement. Additionally, from January 9th, the handset will be also available in the Boost in-store offer as well as at selected third-party dealers.
Moving on to the Sprint post-paid customers, the phone will be available on contract offer from January 16th. However, so far further details concerning its pricing hasn’t been announced to the public yet. But, taking into consideration the fact that it will be a two-year contract deal, it shouldn’t cost much.
Just to refresh your memory, the Lumia 635 goes on sale equipped with a 4.5-inch display featuring 854x480p resolution and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset complete with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor paired with 512MB RAM and 8GB of expandable built-in storage. Although supporting standard package of connectivity including 4G LTE and Wi-Fi, the phone comes only with a 5-megapixel main camera with no front-facing shooter. So in case you’ve planed to give it as a Christmas gift, it’s surely not a good option for social networking and selfie fans.
