T-Mobile revealed its plans to carry the Nokia Lumia 635 immediately after the phone was announced at Build in early April. However, the carrier didn’t say when it would happen, so we waited, we saw the handset pay a visit to the FCC and then we waited some more. Finally today the Magenta network made good on its promise and added Nokia Lumia 635 Windows Phone 8.1 to its portfolio. The device is now for sale from carrier stores.
Nokia Lumia 635 Windows Phone 8.1 for T-Mobile
Starting today users can grab the Lumia 635 from T-Mobile for $0 down plus 24 monthly installments of $7 each. If you prefer to pay the full retail price at checkout, the phone will set you back $168. The new Lumia can be paired with all Simple Choice no-contract plans.
At the moment, the handset is available for purchase only online; however if you are more comfortable shopping for phones in physical stores, you will be happy to know that on July 16th T-Mobile will start selling the Lumia 635 in its retail locations. On July 18th the device will also arrive at Metro PCS where it will be offered at promotional price of $99.
The Nokia Lumia 635 is a successor of the Lumia 521 which was one of the most popular phones carried by T-Mobile and MetroPCS. The handset comes with a few important upgrades over its predecessor, the biggest of which is Windows Phone 8.1 – the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile platform with smartphone assistant called Cortana.
Powered by a quad-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor with Adreno 305 GPU, the phone features a 4.5-inch ClearBlack display with 480 x 854 resolution and a pixel density of 218 ppi. The chip is supported by 512 MB of RAM and there is 8 GB of internal memory expandable via microSD slot. Other features include 4G LTE radio, 5-megapixel rear camera, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 1830 mAh battery.
There’s no doubt that the Lumia 635 is a lower-end offering, though at such affordable price range you couldn’t really expect much more. The phone certainly is not aimed at power users; however, if you are looking for Windows Phone 8.1 experience with LTE connectivity at budget-friendly price, the Lumia 635 might be the right choice.
