Nokia Lumia 530So many great smartphones have been announced recently that you probably don’t remember what happened in mid-summer, so let us refresh your memory. In July Microsoft unveiled the Nokia Lumia 530, a successor of the popular Lumia 520. Not long after that the phone was released in Asia while the rest of the world had to wait almost two and a half months. Finally, users in the US also can get their hands on the Lumia 530 for Cricket as it is now for sale from carrier’s store and will be coming to T-Mobile on October 15th.

Nokia Lumia 530 for Cricket Wireless

Nokia Lumia 530Cricket is the first service provider to offer the Nokia Lumia 530 in the US. The carrier is selling the phone for a very affordable $49.99, naturally with no contract. In a little under two weeks, the device will arrive on T-Mobile with a price tag of $79.20. Starting October 5th, though, the T-Mobile variant of the Lumia 530 will be available from Best Buy and Microsoft stores.

Like its predecessor, the Lumia 530 is a pretty modest offering, though it comes with several improvements. The phone features a 4-inch 854 x 480 display and is powered by a 1.GHz Snapdragon 200 processor with four cores, while the Lumia 520 has a dual-core chip. There is 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory plus microSD slot compatible with up to 128GB cards.

Connectivity features include 3G data, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, and GPS. Also included in the packed is a 5-megapixel rear camera as well as a 1,430 mAh battery which should be good for up to 10 hours of talk time, and up to 22 days of standby. The phone runs Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Cyan and is available in black, white, orange and green.

With a great specs to price ratio, the previous generation Lumia 520 was Nokia’s best-selling phone and accounted for more than 30 percent of the global Windows Phone market. Since the Lumia 530 steps up in a few aspects and still is priced at budget-friendly level, it has a huge chance to repeat its predecessor’s success. If you want to contribute to Lumia 530 victory, you can grab a unit now from Cricket or wait a few days until it becomes available on T-Mobile.
