Here it is. The Nokia Lumia 925 was unveiled today at a special Nokia event in London and is already creating a stir-up on forums. This time round, Nokia decided to leave hardware almost untouched and focus on the design instead. It is not easy to improve something that is already impressive, but is seems that the Finnish manufacturer managed to achieve that. It will not be an overstatement when we say that the new Lumia 925 is the best smartphone that ever left Nokia factory.

Nokia Lumia phones are recognizable for their vivid colors that bring to mind the term “playful”. The company says that by offering devices in a multitude of colors, it wants to give customers a chance to choose the color version that matches their personality best. However, we cannot help but think that such eye popping colors would appeal mostly to younger users, forcing the older ones to look for other options. The Nokia Lumia 925 is entirely different in this respect. Its hue is much calmer and toned down to more standard black and silver.
All recent Nokia handsets are made using polycarbonate for body. The Lumia 925 takes a step further and adds metallic elements to its design, with stunning effects we must add. While polycarbonate is still kept for the back cover, there is also an aluminum frame wrapping around the side of the device. Combination of these two materials allowed for reducing the phone’s weight to just 4.90 ounces (139 grams). Not only does the metal frame make the Lumia 925 look fresh and stylish, but it also has a very important function – it acts as the device’s antenna.
Nokia also played around with the camera on the Lumia 925. It is still the same 8.7-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization and Carl Zeiss lens that we have seen on the Lumia 920 but Nokia convinces us that it received numerous improvements. The handset will ship with camera software upgrade, including Smart Camera. This feature will allow you to shoot ten images at once and later on choose the one you like best. Editing options include Best Shot, Action Shot and Motion Focus, among others. Nokia also revealed that Smart Camera will be available for other Windows Phone 8 smartphones, though lower-end devices will probably get slightly cut-down version.
The Nokia Lumia 925 sports a 4.5-inch AMOLED WXGA (1280 x 768) PureMotion HD+ display, which is a step up from previous used LCD screens. Protected by Gorilla glass, the display provides bright colors, vivid blacks and wide viewing angles. Other specs are identical as the in the Lumia 920 and include a 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 1 GB of RAM, NFC, 1080p HD video at 30fps with OIS, 2000 mAh battery and 4G LTE support. Internal memory is only 16 GB, but Nokia provides free access to SkyDrive where additional 7 GB of storage awaits you.
