A few months ago HMD Global launched the high-end Nokia 8 and pretty impressive Nokia 7. Right now, the Finnish phone maker is once back with new device but this time focuses on more budget-conscious users and releases the entry-level Nokia 2 that will be easy on their wallet. What’s interesting, beyond the low 99 euro price tag, the Nokia 2 is the first Android phone powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 212 processor.
Nokia 2 Android phone is a budget-friendly offering that will be soon available for purchase for as little as 99 euro.
After gaining the license to manufacture Nokia-branded phones, HMD Global has already unveiled eleven phones globally, five of which were simple feature phones. The company is present in over 80 countries, each day gaining more and more customer interest. Although HMD launched several flagship-specced models, the manufacturer’s focus has been predominantly in the budget segment, a department which according to the company is a bit underestimated. That’s why the company announced the Nokia 2 – a handset that speaks a unique design language and offers a generous battery, delivering up to two days of usage on a single charging.
Design and Specs
Specs-wise, the Nokia 2 is a decent entry-level device. Powered by the Snapdragon 212 chip, the handset is the very first Android-running phone to work on that platform. The four-core Cortex A7 processor is clocked at 1.3GHz and is paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB of built-in storage, which thankfully may be easily expanded by another 128GB using microSD cards. No matter how poor such processing parameters may look like on paper, they should be powerful enough to provide the Nokia 2’s users with smooth Android 7.1.2 Nougat performance. Kept alive by a really massive 4,100 mAh battery, the phone supports speedy LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1. As for optics, they include an 8MP primary camera with autofocus and LED flash and an 5 MP fixed-focus selfie sensor.
Other than that made of the IP52-rated body shell of the device has a metal frame finish and houses a 5-inch HD LPTS LCD screen panel. The Gorilla Glass 3 that covers the display, protects the unit against scratches.
If you looking for a simple replacement phone for cheap then the Nokia 2 may be an option perfect for you. The phone is available in three color variants: Pewter/Black, Pewter/White, and Copper/Black. It will hit the market in mid-November. Although HMD Global hasn’t officially confirmed the country-specific availability details, we already learnt that both single-SIM and dual-SIM models will be accessible dependently the market. The phone will be sold for €99, which translates to something round $115.
