Apple’s fourth-generation iPad was launched just a month ago and already there are whispers about a new device – iPad 5 coming out soon. According to Macotakara, a slightly redesigned version of the iPad is being prepared to be launched some time in March 2013. If it turned out to be true, it would put the iPad back into the spring refresh cycle and at the same time it would mean for the iPad 4 the shortest product cycle ever, being only 5 months.
The new iPad 5 is said to be a tad smaller measuring 237.2 mm x 171.7 mm x 7.4 mm, being 4 mm shorter, 17 mm narrower and 2 mm thinner. If the report is legit, it would mean that Apple has actually found a way to reduce the size of the technology that powers the Retina display on the 9.7-inch screen.
According to the rumors, the iPad 5 will have new and improved 9.7-inch Retina display the same A6X processor that powers the iPad 4. Allegedly, most of other specs are also borrowed from the previous generation device.
News about the new iPad causes a lot of excitement, but not even half year product cycle seems short. Let’s just hope that customers are ready, if the report is not bogus and the tablet indeed hits the stores in March 2013.
