Following Barnes & Noble’s announcement from last year confirming that the company won’t me making the Nook tablets anymore, many users said their goodbyes to the brand. However, it looks like the brand in not dead, as a new Galaxy Tab 4 Nook has just been unveiled. The name pretty much says it all, but in case you have any doubts let us explain – the new Galaxy Tab 4 Nook is a product of collaboration between Barnes & Noble and Samsung.
New Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook Tablet
In the press release Samsung keeps referring to the Galaxy Tab 4 Nook in plural which clearly suggests that there will be more than one model. The first one in the new lineup of tablets is expected to arrive at the US shore some time in August. Since is appears to be based on the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0, it could be priced similarly that is around $199.99. The tablet will be available from Barnes & Noble local stores and official online website.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook is a compact tablet sporting a 7-inch display with 1280 x 800 resolution. Inside the device is ticking a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor accompanied by 1.5 GB pf RAM and 8 or 16 GB of internal memory. Other features include w 3-megapixel rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.
Hardware-wise there is nothing really exciting about the tablet, but that’s not the point. The Galaxy Tab 4 Nook is intended to be used more as an e-reader than a tool for professional tasks. For this reason, the slate comes pre-loaded with Barnes & Noble software for access to its digital bookstore on top of Android 4.4 KitKat.
