Meizu announced its new Meizu MX4 flagship smartphone with 2K display and octa-core processor

Meizu MX4Chinese Meizu officially announced its new flagship smartphone – the Meizu MX4. Launched as a great improvement in comparison to its predecessor, the phone goes on sale as a truly high-end offering with a powerful 2.5GHz octa-core processor and a sharp 5.4-inch 2K display. The phone is reported to be available later this month starting from Chinese market then is allegedly to widespread globally, the 16GB version is said to cost $499.

Meizu MX4When looking at the device, there is no doubt that the manufacturer drew their inspiration from Apple products. The body is made of aluminum-magnesium alloy, has very slim bezels and a single capacitive home button under the covered with Gorilla Glass 3 screen. The metal body is available in three color schemes: grey, gold and white. Furthermore, as for such a massive smartphone, the Meizu MX4 is relatively thin with its sides measuring only 8.9. Still, this slim body managed to house a pretty powerful 3,100 mAh battery delivered by Sony.

Moving on, the new Meizu MX4 houses a 5.36-inch IPS-LCD display with 1152x1920p  with an impressive 85% of the color gamut with 1100:1 contrast ratio. The smartphone is powered by the latest generation MediaTek MT6595 chipset that embraces an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A17 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and four Cortex-A7 cores clocked at 1.7GHz cores. Interestingly, all eight cores can work simultaneously. The responsible for graphics GPU is the quad-core PowerVR G6200 coupled with 2GB RAM.

As it comes to the optics, the phone features a 20.7-megapixel Sony Exmor RS shooter with dual-LED dual-tone flash that is to enhance low-light images. The lens just as the screen are protected with Gorilla Glass 3. The camera is also capable of 4k video recording. In addition we also have a Sony-made 2-megapixel front-facing camera, which can record 1080p videos.

The phone runs Android 4.4.4 Kitkat with Meizu own Flyme OS 4.0 installed on the top of it and supports LTE  Cat. 4, 3G with HSPA, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0

Meizu has already started accepting pre-orders for its new Meizu MX4 but it should be mentioned that the phones will start the journey to their future users on September 20th. The phone is available in two options with 16GB or 32GB built-in storage, the one with lower storage can be yours for $499 via Meizu online store, eBay or BestGear. Sadly, the manufacturer is still mum about the phone’s global release.
