Have been wondering when LG will officially present its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Optimus G2? We can tell you now that it won’t be in a distant future. The company has sent out invitations to a special event and the date reads August 7. The event will take place in New York. The invitation was accompanied by a teaser video uploaded on YouTube. However, not much can be deduced from either the invitation nor the video, except that they refer to the Optimus G2.
LG Optimus G2 to be different and unique
LG must be very proud of the Optimus G2. Few devices receive so much attention prior to an announcement. Official press releases have been appearing since mid-April when Head of Mobile Marketing Won Kim revealed that the phone will have “something different and something unique“.
Another big news came on June 20 confirming that the handset will pack Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 800 CPU. More or less at the same time press received emails about the launch event. Three weeks later LG reminds us again to mark August 7 in our calendars.
Successor to the Optimus G, the G2 is believed to be come as a serious competition to the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4. According to the rumors, the phone will feature a 5.5-inch 1080p Full HD display with minute bezels and 13-megapixel back-facing camera with optical image stabilization. The processor is said to be accompanied by 2 GB of RAM. The LG Optimus G2 will also ship with a tweaked version of the Android 4.2 with LG skin on top.
