Some phones, especially premium ones, go official with fanfare. Others usually don’t generate so much interest, unless they have something special to offer, for example decent specs with LTE connectivity at affordable price. Where you can find such combination? In the LG F60 which was announced back in October. The phone is now for sale as LG Transpyre for Verizon pre-paid service for $99.99 without any contract . It’s a special offer for Verizon pre-paid customers – others will have to pay $199.99 to buy the device.
LG Transpyre Verizon pre-paid phone
When the LG F60 aka LG Transpyre was unveiled, it was advertised as a unique offering in its class and for a very good reason. While 4G LTE connectivity in high-end phones is nowadays standard, less advanced handsets often miss this feature. LG, however, put LTE radio inside the device and still managed to keep its price at a budget level – the Transpyre is one of the cheapest LTE phones currently available on our market.
Design-wise, the phone is rather unassuming. It has gently curved back with smooth cover and relatively slim bezels which account for quite compact measurements despite a big 4.5-inch screen. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and has a 480 x 800 resolution at a pixel density of 207 ppi. Driving the device is a quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 processor paired with Adreno 306 GPU and 1GB of RAM.
The phone comes with a mere 4GB of internal memory but luckily it also sports microSD slot for storage expansion. The main 5-megapixel camera is accompanied by a VGA front-facing shooter, and the whole package is powered by a removable 2,100 mAh battery. The handset runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and also offers some of LG’s popular functionalities such as Knock Code.
Summing up, the LG Transpyre appears to be a decent mid-ranger. The fact that it offers LTE support and costs under $100 only adds to its attractiveness. After all, the combination of lightning-fast connectivity and cheap price is not very common. That said, if you still don’t have any idea for holiday gifts, the LG Transpyre might be a interesting option.
