Wanna hear some funny story? It begins in July when the LG Spectrum 2 appeared on Verizon’s Cellebrite system. Many began to run their hands in anticipation waiting for the official launch date, but in the end nothing happened. It seemed like the carrier forgot about the Spectrum 2, but yesterday the phone made its way to BestBuy website and oddly enough is already listed as sold out. What is going on? You may ask. Well, we have no idea either. One possible explanation is that the launch date, possibly November 3rd, indeed is imminent and Best Buy just jumped the gun a little with its product page for the phone. At the moment the only thing we can do is to wait and see what happens next.
And while waiting, you better get used to the price, because it is not on the low side, but that was to be expected for a device equipped like the Spectrum 2. The price tag for the phone without contract read $649.99. If you do not mind signing a 2-year service agreement with Verizon, you will probably have to pay something around $199.99.
Since the LG Spectrum 2 was first announced quite some time ago, here a quick reminder of the specs.
LG Spectrum 2 for Verizon – Overview
The LG Spectrum 2 for Verizon features 4.7 inch 720p HD display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 which gives the pixel density of 312 ppi. Under the hood you will find a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and Adreno 225 GPU to drive the graphics. There is 16 GB of internal memory, with an option to expand the storage capacity up to 32 GB via microSD card. Best Buy does not mention the phone’s RAM which at this point still remains a mystery. While many have hoped it would be 2 GB, unfortunately some sources suggest Verizon might get a scaled-back version with only 1GB.
The Spectrum 2 also sports an 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.3 megapixel front shooter. Both allow you to take high quality photos and the front camera can also be used for video chatting. The phone also offers you 4G LTE connectivity for quick and easy connection speeds, Bluetooth compatibility for wireless communication with Bluetooth-enabled device such as headsets, car kits and more, as well as a music player, which lets you listen to your favorite songs wherever you are.
The LG Spectrum 2 runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which offers all you know and love about the most popular operating system. With all these great specs and features you probably wonder how often you will have to charge your phone. Not often, if what Best Buy claims is true – the battery should allow for up to 10 hours talk time and up to 20 days standby time.
