When a few days ago LG suggested to mark May 1st in our calendars, we had no idea what it was all about. Ok, maybe some had a feeling that it would involve a new phone, but it was more of a guessing game or speculation rather than an actual knowledge. Now the company has let us in on the secret and revealed a few details about the upcoming event. On May 1st in New York City, LG is going to show off its new flagship smartphone – the Optimus G Pro.
LG Optimus G Pro to be introduced on May 1st
It appears that LG is following in the footsteps of other big smartphone manufacturers and the presentation of the device is going to big one big party. Just like it was the case with the iPhone 5, HTC One and most recently the Samsung Galaxy S4, the Optimus G Pro will be introduced to the US customers with lights and music. The latter will be provided by a band known as Atlas Genius. With that said, the somewhat cryptic invitation to “Share the Genius” from previous announcement makes sense now.
As for the smartphone itself, assuming it is identical to the international version, it will offer really impressive set of specs. For starters, the handset features a 5.5-inch 1080p True HD IPS + LCD. The the Optimus G Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, which puts the phone on par with the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4, at least in the performance capability department. The handset also comes with a 13-megapixel rear and 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, as well as 2 GB of RAM.
