AT&T prepaid customers getting another affordable Android handset to choose from. The nation’s second largest carrier has just expanded its portfolio by the LG Phoenix 3. Starting today, March 10, you may grab the phone for under $80. Although the LG G Phoenix 3 isn’t even close to a modern flagship, don’t forget that not everyone needs a feature packed powerhouse. And if you belong to that group the latest AT&T’s offering may be something for you.
AT&T adds the LG Phoenix 3 to its prepaid offer. Starting today the phone can be yours for as little as $79.99 without long term contracts.
Being a successor of the LG Phoenix 2, the LG Phoenix 3 is actually nothing different than a rebranded LG K4. Quite surprisingly instead of offering a noticeable upgrade to the last year’s model, in terms of specs the Phoenix 3 seems to be weaker than its predecessor. The phone houses a 5-inch screen with 480x854p of resolution and comes driven by a quad-core Snapdragon 210 processor clocked at 1.1GHz and coupled with 1GB RAM.
In comparison, the Phoenix 2 (aka LG K8) offered a sharper 5-inch 720x1280p display and worked on a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor paired with 1.5GB RAM. Optics were also stronger, as the Phoenix 2 debuted with a combination of 8MP and 5MP rear and front cameras. If you consider that ridiculously low parameters, what would you say about two 5MP rear and front sensors the Phoenix 3 has been equipped with? Both handsets run Android Marshmallow and deliver 16GB of built-in thankfully expandable storage. The only advantage the this year’s model has over its predecessor is a 2,500mAh battery as the Phoenix 2 was kept alive by a 2,115 mAh cell.
Summing up, the specs aren’t surely especially inspiring. The display is of a low resolution and 1GB RAM in 2017 sounds like a joke. Even the OS version is a gen behind. However, on the other hand, when we take into account the Phoenix 3’s extremely low pricing, we will see the phone in a completely different light.
Priced at $79.99 the handset still provides its users with a decent smartphone experience. Note that it is still capable of snapping a picture and enables using social media, play music and surf the net. In addition, thanks to a really poor resolution of the screen panel the 2,500 mAh battery should be able to keep the whole thing ticking all day long.
If you under the spell of the phone’s darn low price tag and use AT&T GoPhone plan, simply visit your local AT&T representative and buy the Phoenix 3. What’s more you can even purchase the handset without leaving your home, as it’s also available in the carrier’s online store.
