Verizon launches LG Optimus Zone 2 Android smartphone and LG Extravert 2 Messaging Phone

As expected the entry-level LG Optimus Zone 2 Android smartphone has just showed up in Verizon store in a company of another messaging phone – LG Extravert 2. Both phones are updates to already existing models and run on Verizon 3G network. The LG Optimus Zone 2 will set you back $199.99 outright or $49.99 with a new two-year contract. The Extravert 2 is priced at $79.99 with a two-year agreement or $199.99 without contract. The device is also available with Verizon’s Edge service for $8.33 per month.

LG Optimus Zone 2The LG Optimus Zone 2 is a simple, compact smartphone with basic features, yet it runs the latest version of Android software, 4.4.2 KitKat complete with the full suite of Google Services and LG-specific apps such as QuickMemo. If you happen to share your phone with another users, you will appreciate Guest Mode which lets you determine what content others can access.

The Optimus Zone 2 features a 3.5-inch display with 480 x 320 resolution and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. The phone offers 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory expandable up to 32 GB via microSD slot. Other features include a 3-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 1,700 mAh battery which is rated for up to 10 hours of usage time or up to 15 days of standby time.

The LG Extravert 2 is aimed at users who communicate primarily by texting and like to feel actual keys while typing. The phone sports a slide-out 4-row QWERTY keyboard with a separate row for numbers and dedicated shortcut keys which helps with faster and more accurate typing. Being a messaging phone, the Extravert 2 comes with a variety of messaging features such as Auto-Reply and Message Schedule.

The handset’s touch screen measures 3.2 inches diagonally and offers 400 x 240 resolution. Moreover, the phone has a smart LED which changes color depending on the type of notification. Other key features include a 2-megapixel camera with video capture, microSD support, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS navigation, media apps, Verizon content, Opera Mini web browser and a 1,000 mAh battery.
