Smartphones offering higher that usual degree of durability are becoming very popular. More and more manufactures either already have such a device on offer or plan to release one. Today LG joined in the fun with its Optimus GJ. For the time being the phone will be available on in Taiwan. It will hit the stores sometime next month with a price tag reading TWD 17,990 which would be about $600.
Durable LG Optimus GJ vs. Optimus G
The LG Optimus GJ is a heavy duty variant of the Optimus G. Measuring 5.39 x 2.71 x 0.39 inches (136.9 x 68.9 x 9.9 mm), the GJ is bigger than the original G. It is entirely understandable given the phone’s extra protection against water and dust. The Oprimus GJ was issued IPX7 certification, which means that it would not be damaged even if you submerged the handset in water up to 1 meter deep for up to 30 minutes.
Apart from being waterproof, the Optimus GJ comes with specs basically identical to its older brother Optimus G. The phone features the same 4.7-inch IPS HD display with 720p resolution and is powered by a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. The phones are also matching in terms of memory, both offering 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of expandable storage. Just like the Optimus G, the GJ also sports a 13-megapixel rear camera, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 2,280 mAh battery. The LG Optimus GJ will be available in two color options: all black and combination of black and red.
