Screen resolution is one of the first things more demanding users check right away when they look for a new smartphone today. Obviously manufacturers are aware of that and are constantly trying to impress potential buyers by increasing resolution of their devices. Last year LG shocked the world by putting a 2K display in their flagship LG G3. This year the company aims even higher. According to the latest reports, the LG G4 may feature a 3K display. But that’s not all for today – it looks like the LG G4 Stylus is in the works too.
LG G4 and LG G4 Stylus – What to expect.
The 2K display, otherwise known as QHD, was a pretty big deal last year, but it was just a matter of time until someone will raise the bar. Apparently, it’s going to be LG again. As a leaked user agent profile suggests, a mysterious LG phone might soon find its way to the market boasting a resolution of 3K (1620×2880 pixels). The handset has a model number LG-VS999 and we believe that it could be the LG G4.
Other than resolution, the UAP doesn’t reveal anything else, so we don’t know the phone’s screen size. If, however, the device keeps the measurements of the LG G3, that is 5.5-inch diagonal, we will be looking at a stunning pixel density of about 600ppi. That’s pretty impressive considering that current record holder for the highest pixel density is the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A at 576ppi.
The upcoming LG G4 is said to arrive equipped with Qualcomm’s latest processor, the Snapdragon 810, despite the fact that the chip seems to be having some performance issues. Other rumored features include a massive 4GB of RAM, 16-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization, up to 64GB of expandable storage and at least 3,000 mAh battery. Users can also expected Android 5.0 Lollipop as operating system of choice.
Earlier rumors claimed that the G4 would come with a stylus, but it might not be the case after all. Instead, LG might opt to include stylus support in a more modest variant of the G4 known as LG G4 Stylus, like it did last year. The device in question was spotted in a leaked document carrying model number LG-H631 and is believed to be the LG G3 Stylus successor. The document also reveals that the phone offers1280x720 pixel resolution which, if true, it would be a nice upgrade over G3 Stylus’s 960×540 screen.
The LG G4 is expected to be announced in a few months, quite possibly in May. The LG G4 Stylus, on the other hand, will allegedly arrive later, with Q3 mentioned as likely launch timeframe. Only then we will know whether any of the news is actually true. The leaked documents may look legit, but they may very well turn out bogus, so as always we advise you to keep a healthy pinch of salt within reach and use it if necessary. If the G4 with a 3K display and the G4 Stylus are the real deal, we are sure to hear more in the weeks to come, so stay tuned.
