Smartphone makers usually do what they can to keep their unannounced products under wraps for as long as possible, but true enthusiasts always find a way to get to the most juicy details. In this case of the upcoming LG G3 the task was easy thanks to a document that leaked out on Sprint’s website. Specs revealed in the file give us a pretty good idea of what to expect and confirm that the phone will be a real monster phone – meant as a compliment, of course.
LG G3 Monster Phone for Sprint
The document in question is known as a user agent profile, or UAProf, and it is an XML file that contains details of a product. Such documents are prepared in advance prior to phones’ announcement, so its existence is not surprising, even though the LG G3 is not official yet. However, Sprint didn’t do a good job of hiding it, this way accidentally spilling the beans on the upcoming LG’s monster phone.
Attentive readers will notice that actually the G3 isn’t mentioned anywhere in the document by such name. Instead, the phone is referred to as LG LS990, which obviously is a model number of the Sprint’s version of the LG phone. However, unless LG has another so high-end phone in the making (and we have no reason to think it has) it must be the LG’s G3, there is no other option.
Anyway, the specs point to a premium device that would be a worthy successor to last year’s LG G2. According to the file, the G3 has a QHD display (1440 x 2560) measuring 5.5 inches diagonally and is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) processor. There appears to be a hefty 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory with an option to add another 64 GB via microSD card.
The main camera has a 13-megapixel sensor with highest image resolution of 4160 x 3120 pixels. There is also a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera capable of 1080p video capture. The LG G3 will ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box and will arrive with an assortment of connectivity features including LTE, EVDO, IS2000, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Since the UAProf is already on Sprint’s website, it could indicate that the LG G3 is not far from going to be official. Rumors suggest May 17th as possible announcement date, which is a little over a month from now.
