It seems that the circular smart watches competition is on. It has been on for some time now since we have seen many smartwatches presented by major companies such as Samsung, Motorola and LG. However, with this new addition to the market from LG “The G Watch R”, it is obvious that other wearables may see hard time in sales with this new guy in town. Earlier this week, LG posted a teaser video on its upcoming new, Google-powered round watch, the LG G Watch R and now it has officially been presented to the market and smartwatch enthusiasts.
LG G Watch R round smartwatch – sportwatch…
Unlike its previous brother G Watch, the LG G Watch R has a round face, similar to Motorola’s Moto 360 smartwatch. However, unlike Moto 360, LG gadget utilizes the entire display. Moreover, fitness fans will find their needs met with this new wearable.
Along with being dust and water-resistant, the LG G Watch R comes with several sensors, such as gyroscope and motion sensing accelerometer, temperature sensing barometer and a heart rate monitor. How is that for a smartwatch or should we call it a sportwatch?
The G Watch R runs on the latest Google’s Android Wear software. LG also noted that the smartwatch will come with LG’s own apps in addition to Google’s apps. It also offers 1.3-inch 320 x 320-pixel circular plastic OLED display, officially dubbed as P-OLED. It is said to work even under a bright sunlight when viewed from all angles.
The LG G Watch R also features a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, local storage of 4GB, RAM of 512MB and a 410 mAH battery. Unfortunately, The G Watch R battery life is only 10 mAH higher than of LG’s previous G Watch’s 400 mAH. Nevertheless, the G Watch R comes with a stainless steel frame which will add a premium feel to the device and even make it look fancier, more sophisticated than other smartwatches in the market. The photos of the watch doesn’t make it look like a software powered watch, so we are very intrigued by this new rounded smartwatch in town.
The LG G Watch R is coming in around fourth quarter of 2014. The device will be on display during IFA in Berlin next week. The pricing has not been revealed or discussed by LG yet.
