Last year’s Lenovo Yoga tablets were in a way novelty on the market thanks to their built-in kickstands. Hardware, however, was far from being impressive and even though pricing was affordable, the Yoga tablets were left behind competition. Apparently, Lenovo got the message and its next-generation slate, Yoga Tablet 10 HD+, is much better equipped. The tablet was announced today at MWC in Barcelona and will arrive in stores in April starting at $349. The device will be available in two versions, with Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, though only the former will make it to the US.
Better and Faster Lenovo YOGA Tablet 10 HD+
One of the main complaints about the Lenovo Yoga tablets from 2013 was slow processor. Lenovo addressed this issue by switching from MediaTek processor to a faster quad-core 1.6 GHz Snapdragon 400 chip.
Another improvement is the device’s 20/20 Vision Full HD screen which measures 10.1 inches diagonally, however, bumps display resolution from 1280 x 800 to 1920 x 1200 pixels. A cool feature is that the display is capable of automatically adjusting to the user’s ambient lighting conditions.
The tablet offers 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB or 32 GB of internal memory expandable via microSD slot. On the back is an 8-megapixel camera, while a 1.6-megapixel shooter is located on the front panel. Other features include dual front speakers, Dolby Audio, a micro USB port, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 9,000 mAh battery, which according to Lenovo can provide up to 18 hours of usage time.
Like last year’s models, the Yoga Tablet 10 HD+ sports a built-in kickstand that can be used in three modes: hold, tilt and stand. The kickstand makes using the tablet more comfortable and leaves your hands free, for example when watching a movie or chatting with a friend. The mechanism that attaches the kickstand to the tablet creates a slight bump along one edge of the tablet and provides a handy grip in portrait mode.
The Yoga Tablet 10 HD+ runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and is pre-loaded with a suite of Lenovo-exclusive apps, known as DOit apps. The apps include SHAREit for sharing content even without Internet connection, SECUREit which is data-protection tool, SYNCit which serves as a personal backup assist, and SNAPit Camera which adds more functionality to camera.
