Lenovo S660Lenovo is a company that is mostly associated with desktop computers, monitors, laptops and tablets; however, it has a handful of smartphones in its offer too. The latest addition to the smartphone portfolio is the S-series comprising three devices, the S860, S850 and S660. All three Lenovo phones were announced at MWC this week along with the YOGA Tablet 10 HD+. The S860, S850 and S660 are budget-friendly offerings priced at $349, $269 and $229, respectively. The phones are expected to go on sale in select markets starting in June.

5.3-inch Lenovo S860 Dual-SIM Phablet

Lenovo S860Neither of the three phones is a high-end device, but out of the trio, the Lenovo S860 is the most top-end. The phone is encased in a brushed metal exterior, has a 10.3 mm trick profile and weighs 0.42 lbs. Key features of the S860 include a 5.3-inch IPS display with a 1280 x 720 HD resolution, a quad-core 1.3 GHz MediaTek processor and 2 GB of RAM.

The phone is equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.6-megapixel front-facing sensor and offers 16 GB of internal memory as well as dual-SIM capability. In addition to HSPA+ 21 support, other connectivity features of the S860 include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0. The handset packs a hefty 4,000 mAh battery which, according to Lenovo, can provide up to 43 hours of talk time or up to 40 days of standby time. Not only that, but it is also capable of charging other devices on the go.

5-inch Lenovo S850 with 13MP Camera

Lenovo S850Further down the line is the Lenovo S850 sandwiched between two sheets of glass. The phone is powered by the same quad-core 1.3 GHz MediaTek processor as the S860 but offers 1 GB of RAM while keeping internal memory at 16 GB. The S850 features a 5-inch display with the same 1280 x 720 resolution which means that pixel density will be higher than on the S860.

One of the biggest advantages of the S850 over its bigger brother are cameras. The main sensor is a 13-megapixel unit, while on the front resides a 5-megapixel camera. Other features include dual-SIM support, HSPA+ 21 connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, FM receiver, a 2,000 mAh battery and an array of sensors including gravitation, proximity, and light.

4.7-inch Lenovo S660 Slim & Stylish Smartphone

The Lenovo S660 is the smallest of the team and like the S860 features a brushed metal design with extra resistance to scratches and fingerprints. The phone’s screen measures 4.7 inches diagonally and offers 960 x 540 resolution. Like the rest of the family, the S660 will ship with a quad-core 1.3 GHz MediaTek processor, dual-SIM capability, HSPA+ 21 support and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.

The Lenovo S660 is 9.95 mm thick and weighs only 0.33 lbs. Other features of the handset include Bluetooth 4.0, a large 3,000 mAh battery, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera and gravitation, proximity and light sensors.

All three phones run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Lenovo’s own UI on top complete with the company’s brand new DoIt apps suite. As you can see, the S-series will be launched with fairly old version of the OS, however 4.4 KitKat update is expected to arrive soon after release.
