Kyocera Hydro Life PhoneIt’s very unlikely that the fact of carrying a smartphone in the pocket would stop people from going about their business, but it goes without saying that in certain cases consequences for the phone may be sorry. Smartphones are of a delicate nature and usually don’t do well when exposed to extreme conditions for example being dropped on a hard surface or taking a plunge in the pool. Of course, there are a few exceptions and the new Kyocera Hydro Life for T-Mobile is one of them. The phone is now on sale from Walmart at price $124.99 without a contract.

Walmart is selling T-Mobile Kyocera Hydro Life

Kyocera Hydro LifeLike other members of the Kyocera Hydro series, the Life is a ruggedized phone that is capable of withstanding much more than the standard hardships of daily usage. Unlike the majority of manufacturers, however, Kyocera managed to combine durability with a pretty stylish design in contrast to typical rugged phones which are usually downright ugly. Hydro Life’s main selling point is IP57 certification for protection against dust and immersion in water up to 3.28 feet deep for up to 30 minutes. The phone also meets Military Standard 810G which means that it is drop- and shock-proof.

On the hardware front, the Hydro Life offers a 4.5-inch impact-resistant IPS qHD display, 5-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera and a 2,000 mAh battery. Running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the phone comes with Kyocera‘s proprietary Eco Mode and MaxiMZR apps to help with power management and squeeze every drop of juice from the battery for when you are on the go and can’t use your charger. Other key features include 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, Wi-Fi calling, Bluetooth 4.0, and support for T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network.

Whether you are a physically active person that can’t do sports without a phone or you tend to be clumsy at times and are afraid that a regular smartphone might not survive for too long, the Hydro Life would be a good choice for you. T-Mobile has the handset at a very affordable price; however, if the Magenta network is not your favorite carrier you will be happy to know that the Hydro Life also will be available from Metro PCS in three weeks.
