In fact, there many folks who simply don’t care about fancy stuff and millions of apps and all they want is to keep in touch without having to worry about accidentally damaging the phone. With such users in mind, Kyocera made the DuraXV rugged phone and the handset is now available at Verizon Wireless.

The device is certified to Military Standard 810G and IP68 which means that it won’t be damaged by dust, shock, extreme temperatures and water immersion for up to 30 minutes in up to six feet of water. Moreover, the phone is certified for use in hazardous work locations (Non-incendive, Class I, Division 2, Groups A-D, T4).

Other features include 512MB of internal memory, microSD support up to 32GB, 265MB of RAM, 1500 mAh battery and a 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus and digital zoom. You can also opt for non-camera version if your workplace doesn’t allow them.

Being a feature phone, the Kyocera DuraXV obviously lacks advanced functions that are offered by smartphones. However, if your priority is reliability and durability rather than cool tricks, then the DuraXV would be a perfect companion for you wherever you go, be it your work or a field trip.
