If you are looking for a ruggedized smartphone at affordable price, your best bet would be Kyocera. Their phones are widely available in the US market, however, your best chance of finding one is to look among pre-paid service providers. A few models have been also offered by Sprint and Verizon, however, postpaid carriers are not a typical destination for Kyocera phones. It looks like in the near future Verizon Wireless will be adding to its portfolio a tough boy going by the name Kyocera Brigadier. We don’t know at this moment when exactly it will happen, but apparently it will be soon.
Kyocera Brigadier for Verizon Wireless
Care to guess how we found out about the Kyocera Brigadier? Well, of course thanks to @evleaks who revealed this news in his recent tweet. Unfortunately, the tipster didn’t reveal anything else. Apart from the name and carrier, we know nothing about the Brigadier. Being Kyocera-made, the Brigadier obviously will be more heavy-duty than your average phone. The Japanese company is famous for making devices that are capable of withstanding conditions that would definitely kill most phone. Water, dust, fall on hard surface, vibrations, salty air? No worries, if it’s Kyocera, it will survive.
Aside from that, the Kyocera Brigadier is a mystery, though we wouldn’t expect any ground-breaking technology. Typically, Kyocera phones are decent offering but they usually sit at the lower or mid-range end of the spectrum. Since on details about the Brigadier are available we can’t be certain whether it’s a smartphone or feature phone. Either way, it will be a perfect device to take with you on a hiking trip or whitewater rafting adventure. The device could land on Verizon’s pre-paid line of devices on the carrier’s recently released ALLSET plans.
