Sony Xperia TL for AT&T – Overview
In terms of hardware, the Sony Xperia TL for AT&T is not much different from it’s European version the Sony Xperia T, that we had opportunity introduced earlier. This new Sony’s flagship phone is rather big but unusually light – weigh only 4.8 ounces, which is much less than you would expect from a 4.6-inch device. With its HD Reality display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine, 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, 16 million colors and shatter proof sheet on scratch-resistant glass, the phone offers unique visual experience while playing games, watching videos or just accessing apps.
The Xperia TL is powered by a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, which guarantees smooth performance and seamless navigating. The phone features 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory, and you can always add more, because the microSD card slot is compatible with up to 32 GB cards.
The Xperia TL sports two cameras. The front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera is for video chatting and self-portrait and the 13 megapixel rear camera could successfully serve as your primary photographic device. The camera has pulsed LED flash, auto focus, 16x digital zoom, Sony’s Exmor R for mobile CMOS sensor, image playback supporting the following formats: BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, WBMP, and HD video recording (1080p) in 3GPP, MP4 formats. The camera offers various photo taking modes: sweep panorama, face detection and smile detection and the pictures can be viewed using the Album app.
In terms of connectivity and communication, the Sony Xperia TX has also a lot to offer, for example Bluetooth technology, native USB tethering, USB high speed 2.0 and Micro USB suport, NFC, HDMI via MHL support and Wi-Fi with Wi-Fi Hotspot functionality. The phone is DLNA certified, has WebKit web browser with Pan & zoom and can serve as a mobile hotspot allowing you to share your internet connection with other phones, computers or tablets.
Entertainment-wise the Xperia TL is well equipped too. The phone is pre-loaded with some interesting apps: TrackID music recognition, xLOUD Experience, FM Radio with RDS, WALKMAN, Movies, TV launcher and Sony Entertainment Network, Timescape with Twitter integrated, Facebook with Xperia, and more. It offers audio playback supporting MP3, 3GPP, MP4, SMF, WAV, OTA, Ogg vorbis, FLAC formats, audio recording, supporting 3GPP, MP4, AMR formats, clear audio and clear bass, and headphone surround sound.
On the software side, it is nice to see that the phone runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which means you will be provided with access to Google mobile service, like Google Play Store, Google Voice Search, Google Talk, Google Mail, Google Maps with Street View and Latitude, to mention just a few.
