MediaPad X2Though the yesterday’s Huawei’s show at Mobile World Congress was stolen by the company’s new wearables, it doesn’t mean that the manufacturer has nothing more up in their sleeves. Today, on the second day of the expo Huawei unveils the new 7-inch MediaPad X2 tablet sporting a highly attractive metal body shell and a full HD screen. Additionally, this cellular enabled slate supports all the connectivity options you would expect to find in the latest smartphones, including talk service enabling the tablet to make phone calls.

Huawei MediaPad X2 Dual-SIM Tablet

Huawei MediaPad X2To begin with the body design, the Huawei MediaPad X2 is closed in a unibody shell, very similar to the one found in the HTC One M9. Having just a 7.18 mm thick profile, the slate appears to be incredibly slim as for its massive size factor. From the front, the MediaPad X2 strongly resembles the Ascend Mate 7, including the same 16:10 screen-to-body ratio, additionally enhanced by ultra slim side bezels just as in the case of the Ascend Mate 7.

The tablet comes with a 7-inch display featuring 1920x1200p of resolution, a 13-megapixel main camera sensor additionally supported by a quite decent 5-megapixel front shooter, and a powerful 5,000 mAh battery that will keep the lights on. However, the biggest improvement over the tablet’s predecessors is visible in the processor update.

The Huawei MediaPad X2 will soon hit the market with one of the finest currently available chipsets that is the Kirin 930 complete with a 2.0GHz octa-core processor. When it comes to memory capabilities the device will be available in two variants, one with 2GB RAM and 16GB of built-in storage, and the other with 3GB RAM plus 32GB of native storage. Furthermore, sporting support for two SIM cards and ultra fast 4G LTE connectivity Cat.6, the slate can be used for making phone calls.

Running the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop with the Huawei’s own EMUI custom software installed on the top of it, the MediaPad X2 will debut on the market dressed in Titanium Silver. What’s more the premium 3GB RAM model will be available in Rose Gold. At this point, the company keeps mum on the tablet’s pricing and availability details.
