As mobile making companies try to attract more and more customers and overtake Apple, we witness more devices hitting the market, including smartwatches and cell phones with amped up specs. The China based mobile and telecommunications equipment maker told Engadget in an interview, that it is planning to launch a sapphire screen mobile device Huawei Ascend P7 Sapphire Edition soon.
Huawei Ascend P7 Sapphire Edition
Sapphire is the second strongest material in the world after diamond, so seeing the phone in smashing experiments would be quite interesting, since we all used to smashed screens by now. Clumsy customers like myself would greatly benefit from such a phone, when we accidentally drop it on the floor while trying to unlock the door or while trying to text while doing something else. Thou, our excitement will have to be reserved, because as it appears, Huawei may manufacture limited amounts of this Sapphire screened mobile and it may end up being available only in China, which leaves us clumsies stranded with our smashable screen phones, thou Apple is said to have a sapphire screen on its iPhone 6, but it’s a whole new different story.
Getting back to the Ascend P7 Sapphire Edition, Huawei said that it will have 4G LTE connectivity. According to the report, Ascend P7 Sapphire Edition won’t come with any major changes. Previous P7 runs on Android 4.4, comes with a 5-inch, 1080p screen. It has a quad-core 1.8GHz Cortex-A9 processor backed by 2GB RAM. It also sports a16GB storage with extendable microSD up to 64GB. The rear of the mobile has a 13-megapixel autofocus camera with LED and the front features an 8-megapixel camera.
In a world of competition, just Chinese market in itself seems overrun by all sorts of mobile devices, so this Sapphire screen Ascend P7 may help Huawei to stand out from the rest of the competition. Since Apple is also planning to use a sapphire screen on iPhone 6, we can undoubtedly say that other mobile giants may follow Huawei’s steps too. Since smartwatches are also in the market, we may end up seeing the sapphire screened smartwatches being launched anytime soon as well.
