We have heard a thing or two about the next HTC flagship phone, but nothing definitive so far. While no specs or features have been added to the list of rumors, it looks like we may have a launch window. Since the news comes from @evleaks who is one of the most trusted sources on the internet, we have little reasons to doubt legibility of the information. On his Twitter account the tipsters revealed that the HTC One 2 (also referred to as HTC One+), codenamed M8, may be unveiled in late March at a press event in New York.
HTC One+ / HTC One 2 – What we may expect…
This certainly makes a lot of sense. The Samsung Galaxy S5 will be announced later this month at MWC and hit the stores sometime around April and is sure to draw a lot of attention both from experts and users. Scheduling announcement event of its next flagship phone in March, looks like a deliberate move on HTC part. Two major releases so close to each other would certainly give customers a hard time deciding which one to choose, and since there won’t be enough time to get used to the Galaxy S5, users are more likely to go for the HTC One 2.
In his tweet, @evlekas stated that the “M8 looks strikingly like the M7” which may be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it. It seems that HTC hit the nail on the head with the One design and most users loved it. Having this in mind, experimenting with design may seem risky. On the other hand, if the One 2 indeed will look like its predecessor, it may actually discourage some users to look deeper and enjoy all the improvements. Rumored features of the HTC One 2 include, among others, a bigger display, on-screen capacitive buttons, Snapdragon 800 processor and fingerprint scanner.
