After countless leaks and rumors, the HTC One Max was hardy a mystery, but still it is exciting to see the phone get its official presentation. The HTC One Max is the company’s first phablet keeping the classy design as well as some of the specs of the original One, and adding a few innovations, such as a fingerprint scanner. Customers in Europe and Asia will be able to get their hands on the phone in a few days. In the US, the phone will be carried by Verizon and Sprint and should appear in stores some time in November.
HTC One Max Phablet with Fingerprint Scanner
At first glance the HTC One Max looks just like the original One with its aluminum body and BoomSound dual stereo speakers. The most obvious difference between these two handsets is the size. The HTC One Max grows the display by 1.2 inches as compared to the regular One, bringing the size to massive 5.9 inches. The display obviously offers Full HD 1080 x 1920 that works out to a pixel density of 367 ppi.
A quick look at the back reveals another enhancement in the form of a fingerprint scanner. The feature allows you to unlock the phone with a quick swipe of your finger. It is also capable of remembering three different fingerprints that serve to launch up to three different apps.
Just like its smaller brother, the One Max is powered by a 1.7 GHz Snapdragon 600 processor and sports the same UltraPixel camera with dedicated HTC ImageChip 2. Removable back plate hides a huge 3,300 mAh battery and a microSD slot compatible with up to 64 GB cards.
To complete the picture, the phone packs 3 GB of RAM, 16 GB or 32 GB of internal memory, 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera and HTC services introduced with the One such as BlinkFeed and Zoe. The HTC One Max runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 5.5 UI on top.
