ByinAnnouncements | March 1, 2015

HTC One M9Preceded by months of endless speculations and numerous leaks, the fervently-awaited HTC One M9 has finally been announced today at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Speaking the refined design language of its highly popular predecessor HTC One M8, the HTC’s 2015 flagship comes packed with top-notch specs being in par with what we’ve learnt so far from all those unofficial materials we’ve discussed on numerous occasions.

HTC One M9 – Design and Display

HTC One M9 GoldStarting from its body shell, just as expected, the HTC One M9 sports the HTC unibody design. So, the phone doesn’t only look extremely slim and attractive but also feels great in hand. However, the handset looks also much sharper due to its more pronounced edges, which bring to mind design elements found in the older HTC One M7. Measuring only 144.6 x 69.7 x 9.61 mm, the One M9 is a bit shorter and narrower than its predecessor, which means that the phone will still feel solid in the user’s hand, simultaneously being more compact and more convenient in use.

The beautifully crafted body of the One M9 houses a 5-inch display featuring a 1080x1920p resolution, the same offered by the One M8. Though most of us definitely expected the new HTC flagship to join the Quad HD club, the manufacturer decided that the 1080p resolution will be high enough for a 5-incher. Such a solution should improve battery life parameters significantly, when compared to all those extremely energy-consuming 1440p displays.

Battery, Processor & Camera

HTC One M9 Gunmetal GreyMoving on the battery itself, despite of having shorter body the phone still manages to pack a pretty powerful 2,840 mAh unit delivering 240 mAh more energy than the bigger One M8. When it comes to battery life parameters, the One M9’s battery is said to last up to 17 days on a stand-by mode and up to even 21 hours of 3G talk time, which is a more than a decent result as for a this year’s flagship. What’s more the handset additionally comes with a 1.5A charger that guarantees extra quick charging.

The HTC One M9 will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 810 chipset housing an octa-core processor with four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5GHz. This combination of mouth-watering processing capabilities is said to deliver breathtaking experience at such display resolution. On the memory side, the chipset is coupled with 3GB of the finest DDR4 RAM and 32GB of built-in storage which may be expanded up to 128GB via microSD cards.

Breaking away with the highly-criticized UltraPixel cameras HTC equipped their latest flagship with a 4-megapixel front-facing wide-angle shooter and a 20-megapixel main camera with a sapphire glass cover that is capable to record 4K videos. Frankly speaking, this is pretty much the highest resolution currently available at the Android platform. Delivered by Toshiba the rear camera sensor is said to deliver a higher level of photo quality than we get from Sony sensors, additionally enhanced by special photo software tweaks.

Software and Connectivity

Running the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop, the HTC One M9 will additionally introduce the latest version of the company’s own UI – HTC Sense 7. The interface is promised to deliver top-end performance and enable the handset’s users to customize almost every element of the phone software.

In addition, the phone comes equipped with a number of extra features like the support for 4G LTE, IR blaster and an MHL 3.0 port, allowing you to stream your 4K videos to your TV wirelessly. The well-known HTC Sound Boom stereo speakers traditionally located on the device’s front together with the full Dolby Audio 3 surround sound system will provide its users with an exceptional music experience.

HTC One M9 – Pricing and Availability

Speaking of the HTC One M9 pricing and availability, the phone should debut globally this month. As for pricing, it will vary dependently on the region. For example, Best Buy just has just revealed to sell AT&T’s 32GB model for $649.99 without contract, which is a standard price tag that we usually pay for the latest flagship smartphone.
