It looks like HTC took it easy this year at CES event unveiling only one phone, the Desire 826. Some of you may have expected that the Taiwanese company to announce the One M8’s successor during the show, but it didn’t happen. It appears that we will have to wait for an official presentation of the upcoming flagship for a month and a half. According to the latest report, HTC is planning to unveil the HTC One M9 on March 1st at Mobile Word Congress in Barcelona along with a smartwatch.
HTC One M9 and HTC Smartwatch – Release date scheduled for March 1st
HTC’s event called “Utopia in progress” is scheduled for March 1st at 4 pm CET (10 am EST) in Barcelona. The name doesn’t give us a clue as to what we could expect, but according to a “person familiar with the matter,” this is the mement when HTC will announce the latest member of the One family. The phone apparently is codenamed M9 which is actually no surprise at all, since last year’s One flagship was called M8, and the very first HTC One was M7.
Anyway, the device is said to boast a massive 20-megapixel camera on the back and the UltraPixel sensor will allegedly move to the front. Moreover, the handset is expected to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 810 chip and come with Dolby 5.1 audio technology and HTC’s latest Sense 7 user interface with improved location-based services.
As far as size and design are concerned, the HTC One M9 will be similar to the M8 and will be available in three color options – gold, gray and silver. Earlier rumors regarding the phone also mentioned 3GB of RAM, 5-inch Full HD display, 2,840 mAh battery and support for VoLTE.
As for the smartwatch, we current have no technical details to share with you. It would be HTC’s first smartwatch which allegedly will link with Under Armour Inc.’s fitness service. HTC has been talking about releasing a smartwatch for some time now, but the promises failed to materialize so far. The company initially planned to launch a smartwatch at the end of 2014 but apparently the conditions weren’t favorable and the plans were postponed. Maybe now is a good time. Excited about HTC’s new phone and watch? We for sure are.
