The biggest problem with high-end phones is that they are not cheap. Unfortunately, quality costs and there’s no doubt about that. However, quality consists of a number of elements and not all of them are crucial for high-end performance. HTC was aware of that when they created the HTC One E series. The first member of the lineup called One E8 was released last year as a more affordable alternative to the One M8. This year the tradition continues and the HTC One E9 which just leaked in press renders will arrive as a cheaper version of the HTC One M9.
HTC One E9 may be announced next week
Curiously, the HTC One E9 appears to be very similar to the One M9, in some aspects even surpassing the current flagship, at least according to the rumors. The most noticeable difference between the two is material used for body. While the M9 is made of metal, the E9’s internals are wrapped in glossy plastic.
Speaking of the internals, the One E9 allegedly packs a 5.5-inch QHD display, 2.2 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6795 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 20-megapixel rear camera and either 13-megapixel or 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera for selfies. The phone will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop with Sense 7 UI out of the box.
Actually it’s not the first time that we hear about the HTC One E9 and even see it in pictures. Earlier this month the phone surfaced in live photos and a few days later showed up in Chinese regulatory authority TENAA. Increase in the intensity of leaks suggests that the device may be announced pretty soon, allegedly next week, with pricing set at approximately $480. The handset will first go on sale in China and at the moment there is no word whether it will ever be available outside of Asian market.
Keep in mind that all we know about the phone so far comes from unconfirmed leaks and rumors so the actual device may arrive with slightly different set of specs. One thing is certain, though – even with plastic body, the HTC One E9 will still be a dream device for users who can’t afford the more expensive M9, especially since it is expected to feature a better display.
